Just Safety First
Have you ever had a problem with a filtering system? You know, those things designed to protect children from information that might be harmful to their mental or emotional health. You will be happy and feel most secure to know that the one designed and administered by the West Virginia Board of Education is working so well that information developed by teachers and designed to further their students’ education has been blocked by the filtering system.
I realize that a filtering system is unfortunately necessary in a system of computers used mostly by children. It is important for teachers and especially parents to realize that there is no perfect filtering system, and children should never be allowed to surf the net without supervision.
We are thankful that the people in charge of the server for our school system decided that our blogs were not dangerous after all and have decided to let us allow our students to access them.
